SPITFIRES CROWNED FAB WINTER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 2025

After a long, colder and wetter than usual winter in Almeria the Zurgena Spitfires have been crowned FAB Winter League Champions 2025. This is a great achievement for our club and is the first time a team from Zurgena BC has won the league so we should all be proud. Zurgena BC has come a long way in recent years and we will no longer be referred to as 'just a roll up club.' The Spitfires excellent run in taking, 63 points out of the last 7 games, proved too hot for the opposition and was the key to their title success. Commiserations to the Gunners who will finish second, it was a great battle as always.

 

There are three teams competing in the league for Zurgena and they can feel equally as proud of their achievements this year. as both of them took valuable points from the clubs chasing the Spitfires and this proved vital in the run in.

The Hurricanes had a poor start to the season but should be encouraged with a much improved performance in the second half with some noticeable scalps and they took 4 points off the Gunners in the final game.

New team, the Mosquitoes went from strength to strength culminating in an 8-2 victory against league runners up, the Gunners, in the penultimate game of the season, a victory which helped secure the top spot for the Spitfires.

So congratulations are due to all the players and team captains for an excellent campaign and we look forward ro recommencing battle and defending the title in 2026.
