NORTH V SOUTH CHARITY
CHALLENGE MATCH
RULES
1. The match will be played in line with Crystral Marks 4th edition where not covered below.
2. The match will comprise of trips and rinks, the finak format will be decided when the number of players per team are known. In the trips games each team member will play 5 ends at lead, second and skip. Thus, after 5 ends the skip will play as lead, the lead will play second and the second will play skip. After 10 ends, the original second will play as lead, the original skip will play second, and the original lead will play skip, The rinks game will be 16 ends with each position played by each bowler for 4 ends.
3. No trial ends are allowed.
4. Visiting the head is allowed
5. In the event of a DEAD END the jack will be placed on the 2-metre T and play will continue. Should the 2-metre T be occupied by a bowl, then the jack shall be placed in-line between the mat & the 2 metre. T as near as possible thereto, but not touching the bowl.
6. POWERPLAYS The relevant skip from each team, during the ends they are skipping, can nominate one end as a power play and any points their team wins during the power play end will be doubled and added to the overall score. Powerplay ends must be nominated before the first bowl is delivered. Once the bowl is in motion it is too late to call for a powerplay on that end. Both teams can choose to play their powerplay on the same end but obviously only one will score. Therefore, there will be 3 powerplays in the trip’s games and 4 in the rinks.
7. The winning team will have the highest number of points after 15 ends (16 ends in the rinks game). In the event of the scores being level after 15 ends (16 ends in the rinks game), one further end will be played to decide the winners. The toss of a coin will decide who starts the extra end.
8. Two points will be awarded for each rink won and 2 points will be awarded for the total number of points scored.
9. MAT PLACEMENT In order to speed up the game there will be NO CASTING OF THE JACK! The lead will place the mat after discussion with the skip. Likewise, the skip will place the jack at one of the corresponding marks at his/her end. There are only three possible places to put the mat/jack - on the back T, mid-way (a chalk mark will be made on the green) or on the minimum T mark. The 23m minimum distance between the mat and jack must be adhered to.
10. Substitutes are allowed.
11. The Organisers reserve the right to make changes or alterations and the final format will depend on the number of entrants.
