FAB MEN'S SINGLES FINAL 2024

What a great FAB Men's Singles competition it was at Indalo BC and what a tremendous showing by our boys. An all Zurgena final was guaranteed this morning when Paul Day beat Dave Nelson convincingly 22-12 and Shootsie defeated John Fitzgerald 21-16. It was a certainty that when the Zurgena men stepped onto the green for the final, the trophy was to be retained by Zurgena BC after Tony Mason won it in 2023. The Ladies Pairs final was taking place at the same time and a good crowd saw some excellent bowling on both rinks. Paul and Shootsie battled it out in a nip and tuck contest with the score 7-7 after 10 ends but despite a great display by Paul, Shootsie pulled away winning the match 21-9. Paul played well all week and had an excellent tournament. Shootsie now holds three Men's singles titles, the FAB, Andalucian and the National. Thank you to all the volunteers for making it a great competition and congratulations to both players for keeping Zurgena BC at the top.

Message from the Players: Paul and I would like to dedicate this match to our friend and fellow bowls colleague Tony Mason. He was a true gentleman and fantastic bowler who had just this year got his first cap for his adopted country Spain while playing in Scotland. He will be sorely missed
